The Town of Sylvan Lake has teamed up with local youth coalition – IMPACT, and local artist Jaimie Cooney, to offer complimentary window painting for Sylvan Lake businesses.
As the community begins to “reopen” in the wake of a health pandemic, the initiative’s intent is to help celebrate businesses and their perseverance, and determination throughout these uncertain times.
The IMPACT Coalition is funded through an Alberta Health Services Grant, and gives local youth a place to connect with their community, to have a voice, and to create a positive contribution. The group’s vision for “Paint the Town” is one that helps create a sense of unity, acceptance, love, kindness, and support.
“Thanks to the wonderful vision of the IMPACT youth coalition, we’ve identified a tiny step to take, in an effort to reopen for business, and spark new life into our business community,” said Amanda Mercer, Economic Development Officer, Town of Sylvan Lake.
“With window painting scheduled to take place between June 22 and 26, I invite all Sylvan Lakers to come out, enjoy the art, and reconnect with the local businesses they know, love, and support.”
Window painting availability is accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis, and interested applicants are asked to submit an expression of interest online, by June 22.
