Red Deer County accepting applications for paid on-call firefighters and emergency responders

Red Deer County Protective Services is currently accepting applications for Paid On Call Firefighters and Emergency Responders. Fire Districts, including Delburne, Elnora, Bowden, Spruce View and Red Deer, are putting out the call for people interested in becoming a member of our department. These positions are “Paid On Call,” which is a casual type of employment. These members make a commitment to respond within their communities as an On-Call Firefighter/Emergency Responder and do not have a set schedule.

Red Deer County Protective Services provides all required training for all of our responders. Before they are able to respond, Red Deer County Firefighters are trained to an internationally recognized standard. In addition, all safety equipment is provided to members and maintained in a safe manner at no expense to the responders. The term responder does not just include firefighters. Members of the public that wish to assist Protective Services in a non-firefighting capacity are also encouraged to apply.

Being a Firefighter/Emergency Responder is a great opportunity for people to experience emergency response first hand. These positions provide a means to give back to the community while creating some long-lasting memories and comradery in a supportive team environment.

All interested persons are encouraged to apply online at www.rdcounty.ca before October 15 to be considered for this year’s intake training.

Applications are welcome year-round in Bowden, Delburne, Elnora and Spruce View districts.
