Friends of Library raises money for outdoor book drop to safely provide books to students

This week is National Friends of Libraries Week, Red Deer Public Library recognizes the volunteers at Friends of the Red Deer Public Library.

The volunteers raise funds to support library programs and initiatives. Most recently, the Friends were able to support the library by funding a new (coming soon) outdoor book drop for the Dawe Branch, dozens of delivery bins to ensure the library can safely provide reading materials to students in their two partner schools and a new community program that will launch next month.

Pictured here is Friends’ president Lesley, who led her team of volunteers in organizing thousands of book donations into themed bags, which they are selling in their ongoing Fall Book Sale Monday – Thursday, 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. every week at the Downtown Branch north doors for only $10 a bag.
