Blackfalds Bulldogs revealing its new jersey Friday

BLACKFALDS – The Blackfalds Bulldogs released a video of their logo and name after the AJHL approved relocation of Calgary Mustangs to Blackfalds. And now the Blackfalds Bulldogs’ official Jersey Reveal is this Friday, starting at 1 p.m. and will be broadcast live from the Town of Blackfalds Arena.

Local dignitaries and team officials will be on hand.

“We’re excited to introduce you to the new Bulldogs home and away jerseys for the first time,” said the Blackfalds Bulldogs.

In October 2019 the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) Board of Governors approved the transfer of ownership of the Calgary Mustangs to Doug Quinn and the relocation of the franchise to Blackfalds. The new AJHL member will play its inaugural season from the newly expanded Blackfalds Multi-Plex in the 2021-22 campaign.

Quinn has been in business with his family for over 30 years. He has grown their family business into a multi-million dollar company and has a huge passion for hockey and coaching. He has coached the Midget AAA Optimist Chiefs in eight out of the last 10 years, in that time winning five Alberta Championships, three Pacific Championships and two Telus Cup National Championships.

In June 2020 Blackfalds Town Council voted 4-3 to approve the final and guaranteed maximum price of the project at $24.6 million, which includes $18 million for the new arena and $6.6 million for the library. Any cost overruns will fall to Delnor and Eagle Builders who are completing the expansion.

The Town of Blackfalds is fast-tracking plans for the Blackfalds Multi-Plex arena expansion to take advantage of a competitive construction market. The expansion will include a library, as well as a plaza that when not needed for parking, could be used to host local outdoor events and festivals.
