Red Deer County plans for future residential, commercial development on 393 acres

Red Deer County is developing a Local Area Structure Plan (LASP) for 393 acres on the west side of Gasoline Alley for residential and commercial development opportunities.

The Waskasoo LASP Plan area includes land south west of the City of Red Deer, straddled between highways QEII and Hwy 2A.

The majority of the land located within the plan are undeveloped, or serve as industrial uses.

The Waskasoo LASP will include the phasing of development proposed for the area, land uses proposed for the area, anticipated density of population proposed for the area, and location of major transportation routes and public utilities.

The plan aims to be pedestrian friendly with pathways and links. It also applies crime prevention through environmental design principles to create safer neighbourhoods.

The plan requires a formal public hearing to allow affected landowners the opportunity to voice their comments or concerns.
