Red Deer peace officer in serious condition after being struck by SUV

At approximately 12 p.m. the RCMP were called to the scene of a motor vehicle collision involving an SUV and a Peace Officer.

The SUV was travelling on 60th Street near 58 Avenue when it veered into oncoming traffic colliding with the Peace Officer. The male suspect and only occupant of the SUV fled the scene on foot and is still at large. The Peace Officer was extracted from her vehicle by the Red Deer Fire Department and was transported to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.   Investigation has revealed that the SUV, a black Jeep Cherokee, was stolen.   The suspect is described as:

  • white male
  • approximately 6′ tall
  • short black hair in a mohawk style
  • black coat
  • black pants
