LACOMBE – The City of Lacombe approved $15,000 to community groups through its 2021 Recreation and Culture Grant Program.
The grant program is aimed at supporting new local programs and services that enhance the quality of life of residents through recreation and/or culture. This is the eighth year of the grant program.
“The city is excited to collaborate with community organizations to give residents opportunities to enjoy recreation and culture experiences in supportive physical and social environments,” said Sandi Stewart, recreation and culture manager.
“The approved projects will benefit many in our community through promoting free recreation opportunities, encouraging teen girls to stay in sports, providing the opportunity to try snowshoeing, and improving sport accessibility.”
The Lacombe and District Recreation Parks and Culture Board approved the allocation of the funds at their April 14 meeting. The groups include: The County of Lacombe’s Lifelong Learning to support free opportunities ($1,000); Shadow Box, Punch like a Girl ($3,500); Mary C. Moore Library, Snowshoe borrowing ($3,500); Team Jigger Foundation, sledge hockey ($5,000); and Kidsport Lacombe County ($2,000).
