Red Deer Mayor Tara Veer reacted to the increased number of cases of COVID-19 in the saying although everyone is pandemic weary we need to continue to be diligent in ensuring we limit the spread of the virus.
“I know many in our community are disappointed with current public health measures and restrictions, however, it is important to remember that we are at a critical juncture. While vaccines offer long-term hope of resuming something closer to normal life in the months ahead, we still have responsibility in the short-term to minimize spread.”
Council and the city’s Emergency Operations Centre continues to closely monitor the evolving situation on a daily basis and work with Alberta Health Services to monitor COVID-19 activity in the community and region.
“I encourage residents to support our local businesses as much as you are able during this time,” said Veer. “We have proven time and time again that we can come together as a community, and respond to challenges head-on.
